WITCH

28/29 October 2023

What does it mean to be in control of yourself? Is that limited to your actions and behaviour, or does it extend to your thoughts and your mindset? How much control do we have vs how much are we guided by the universe?

This Halloween weekend, tap into your spirituality (both internal and external) as House of Pride presents WITCH: Queer Weekender. Read more…

But I’m A Cheerleader - The Musical

4 May, 2022

Based on the well-loved Jamie Babbit film of the same name, we laughed, we cried, and we sang along to But I’m a Cheerleader the Musical at the Turbine Theatre.

A post-show discussion included Oliver Brooks and Jodie Steele from the cast, along with our special guest Bobbi Pickard (Trans in the City). Check out the video here.

The theme of the show centred around the highly topical Conversion Therapy.

HOP x Anyone Can Write Writing Workshop

5 August 2021

Have you ever wanted to write a queer story, but weren’t sure where to start?

Amazed that so many ‘get it wrong’ when it comes to LGBTQ+ representation on screen/stage, that storylines aren’t authentic, or do you have a story that you can’t believe hasn’t been made already?

Then this free(!) workshop is for you.

You don’t need to have any writing experience to join this session hosted by ‘Anyone Can Write’. Read more and reserve your spot here.

…cake

29 July 2021

Written by Women’s Prize for Playwriting 2020 finalist, actor and poet babirye bukilwa…cake forms part of a trilogy of plays and is a prequel to bukilwa’s acclaimed …blackbird hour.

bukilwa, who completed the play during the pandemic, says they wanted to write a story through a Black queer femme lens that interrogates the meaning and function of love and self-worth in an exploitative climate of working-class London in the noughties.

We loved every second of …cake at Theatre Peckham and were joined by a group of theatre-lovers from the HOP crew!

Lov(h)er

22nd February 2020

We welcomed 500 of you to the Union Chapel to launch Lov(h)er - the first novel and fourth poetry collection by acclaimed author Azure Antoinette.

It was a night where we celebrated love in all its forms: queer love, past love, old love, unrequited love, new love, self love... and we loved every minute.

Lady Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, founder of UK Black Pride, kicked off the evening, followed by a poetry/stand-up set from Azure. We had vogue dancers from the House of Louboutin, gender-fluid ballerina Chase Johnsey, and none other than pop icon Shura to close the evening.

All profits went to:
